Materials Used:
Paperboard Stock: Paper cup fans are typically made from food-grade paperboard or paper stock. The choice of paperboard may vary based on factors like cup size, intended use (hot or cold beverages), and printing requirements.
Food-Grade Coatings: To make the paper cups suitable for holding liquids, the paperboard is often coated with a food-grade polyethylene (PE) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) lining. This coating provides a barrier against moisture and ensures that the cup remains leak-proof.
Manufacturing Process:
Paperboard Cutting: The manufacturing process begins with the cutting of large rolls or sheets of paperboard into smaller, circular or conical shapes. These shapes will eventually become the paper cup fans.
Printing (Optional): If customization is required, such as branding, logos, or decorative designs, the paperboard may undergo a printing process. Flexographic or offset printing methods are commonly used for this purpose. The printing is done on the side of the paperboard that will be on the exterior of the cup.
Food-Grade Coating Application: In the next step, a food-grade PE or PET coating is applied to the interior surface of the paperboard. This coating provides a moisture barrier and ensures that the cup remains liquid-tight, making it suitable for holding beverages.
Die Cutting: Die-cutting equipment is used to precisely cut the paperboard into the final shape of the paper cup fans. The die-cutting process creates a uniform shape with a raised rim or flange along the perimeter, which will later become the bottom of the cup.
Heat Treatment: The die-cut paper cup fans may undergo a heat treatment process to set the shape and ensure the cup fans remain rigid and stable.
Quality Control: After manufacturing, the paper cup fans undergo a series of quality control checks. These checks may include inspections for printing quality, coating uniformity, dimensions, and any defects in the paperboard.
Packaging: Once quality control checks are complete and the paper cup fans meet the required standards, they are packaged and prepared for shipment to cup manufacturers or other customers.
